Rapping

Jay South G is a 28-year-old rapper who started rapping when he was 14 years old.  He is able to switch his style of rapping from slow and deliberate to mid-tempo to fast and erratic which is something not all rappers do in today’s rap music. Jay uses a fresh tone while he is also smooth and mellow.

Songwriting

Jay is characterized by his songwriting skills. He is able to write his own songs without having to ask for other people’s songs. His usual rapping topic is real life situations he experiences, because this is the best way in which he can express what is going on with his life through his music “It’s therapeutic” (Jay South G, 2020).

Stage Presence

Jay South G is a very animated artist who involves his audience with his lyrics, rhythm and styling. He does not have choreography, but he uses lines and stories through his performances in order to maintain connection with listeners. Depending on the event, he involves other people to perform with him on stage (for example Halloween costume events).

Recording

Jay South’s first-time recording was when he was 14 years old. During this time, he has recorded more or less 50 songs, which has given Jay a lot of experience and opportunities to improve his recording skills. Also, this has given him the opportunity to learn the skill of recording engineer. Jay South G has recorded in numerous studios and has also created his own home studio along with his younger brother YungChris870.

Touring/Booking Themselves

Since Jay South G started releasing songs, he has had the chance to perform in various venues and clubs in his city and surrounding areas. Along with his group members, they have been booking themselves. With connections and friends, they have been able to secure bookings in which they have been the lead performers in the venue and also opened it for other artists.

Co-Writing

Ever since Jay South G became a rapper, he has written all of his songs. He has also been a ghostwriter for other artists. Since he was kid, he wanted to write about things people could feel related to in real life. He also tries to involve people from all ages and genres and try to make them feel involved with his lyrics.
